Not sure we ever had adapters for lamps as large as this in the UK even!

Interesting! Did 2D ever penetrate much into the market over there in bulkheads ect?

Do they have bigger lamp shades in the US? Laughing

2D had very hard time penetrating the market 2D bulkheads very uncommon and rare. Even when Thorn Tried to interduce back in 1980s had a hard time. Even as I have such American SS Advance ballast that is marked Thorn 28
watt 2D. it about mid 90s it took off a little bit. until early part of 2000 is 55 watt 2D in a up lighting type of floor lamp.
I would Say the 55 watt 2D is more common as they replaced those dumb 300 watt T3 halogen Known to set Drapery on fire. Yes Our Lamp shade can get quite large. Keep in mind we have E39 3 way socket that hold 300 watt 3 way bulbs.

I think I’ve seen a US 2D adapter on LG that offered 3 brightness settings, maybe to simulate those 3-way fittings?
2D was once pretty ubiquitous in the UK but is being hit hard (along with everything else) by LED...

Yes there a 3 way version of these where it got 3 levels of switching, those are much harder to find. Ive also learn that if you want these ballast to last. U have turn off light from switched plug socket. Then turn the 3 way setting as current spike can blow the ballast up on fast switching.
