Ah, yes, the classical US bucket Very Happy , loosing these in America will be like us loosing Thorns iconic Beta 5 Sad
This also looks well looked after, that lamp seems pretty bright, like is recently been changed?

These can go on for about 10 to 15 years before they start to dim out. But new mercury lamps now days are chineese junk unless they bang in Iwaski lamp it last manufacture to make any decent quailty MV lamp here in the States. It about next best lamp to the old westinghouse MV

One of my memories on my first visit to the USA was seeing these 175w mercury lanterns in service at night. It got me even more interested in mercury lamps than I already was. Very Happy

I have never been to the US, but it would have been cool to see these all lit at night in their heyday Very Happy

And over here, we had a mix of classic lanterns. Some of them were in fact clones of GEC lanterns from the UK, and there was even the occasional UK-made lantern.... And others were really unique to here

And not without the iconic gearbox, seen accompanying all of them (nearly all were remote gear), audibly buzzing on silent nights
