Thanks you Sylvaina for introducing this imperfection.
Well I am kinda gutted as i have Sylvania D30 8 footer 60
Watt supersaver single pin slimeline lamp. Being early triphosphor
And krypton-argon filled lamp. As this instant start lamp at reduce power
By dropping arc voltage and lamp current is 460 mA. This one problem
Why Thorn have this imperfection as well as it was made on GTE sylvania lamp
Machinery.

Now that's interesting, given Thorn and Sylvania shared the same horizontal lamp production technology. Looks like there's a link between that and why the ends on some Thorn tubes 'ring off' for no obvious reason!

I`m guessing ring off is rare with US tubes then?

There still ring offs but dont seem as common, I see this more on canada sylvania tubes.

Classic example of a ring-off!
Haven't had it happen to any Sylvania's, but I have lost a few GE's in this way.

Not a fan of 60w slimlines, but this one is cool because its 3000kK
