Coloured GLS festoon lighting in Southport.

Have just discovered this picture on a Facebook group, this shows Lord street in Southport a town 14 miles north from me. It looks to have been taken in the 60s judging by the cars and street signs. Coloured GLS festoons were used well into the 80s in Southport, I remember driving driving down this road in September 1985 and it looked amazing! Check out the red Neon sign on the right.

I love proper coloured GLS so much more character then modern LED junk!

Funnily enough, a woman left a comment on the facebook post about it being 'nice to see proper big light bulbs'.

Southport is an awesome town, we were on holiday there about 6 years ago, sadly you couldn`t do this today as they would all get trashed! Confused

It is a lovely town, used to go there a lot on Saturdays when I was a nipper, was only 20 minutes on the train. Always a treat, especially the mini motor bikes and the very large Woolies that had an excellant lighting section.
