are the lampholders Thorn/S&B branded? Never seen one of these either!

The lampholders are SB. They are the same clip-in types that appeared on much longer fittings, as I recall. These were purchased in the late 70s by my dear Uncle (now sadly no longer with us) to manufacture dental technicians' bench lights with Colour Matching tubes. I helped him develop the prototype and advised on the correct tubes. I was in my filament. Wink

Very nice! Keeping my eyes open for something like this (or a Crompton / Philips Streamlite, etc) to convert to 2x 2' 40w

ELTAM Mini U40 ballast. Those were made from the early 70s up to around 1981, the 65W version was made up to 1990

very interesting to see such an early Fitzgerald twin fixture of the V type never realised they used those sorts of lamp holders, I know other early Fitzgerald fixtures used funky hexagonal lamp holders or something along those lines
