Thorn Alpha 4 90w SOX
MFD 2006.
Canopy was shedding fibres all over the place so I hit it with 400 grit wet & dry paper and added a couple of thin layers of paint to seal it.

Still need to do the spigot as the paint is lifting in some places but I'm out of black paint at the moment.

this would be a late 90's early 2000's version, orignally alpha 4's were made in remote geared 135 watt only having a white fibre gasket. The mid 80's ones badged Thorn EMI were shit, they have injected foam gaskets that suck water in the lantern. the last ones didnt leak

I like these. Nice & simple IMO just the clips let them down

Yeah I thought they were a bit shit.

The design of these is right up there with Philips`s MA, this could have done with some SS clips too.

Nice save, shame about the clips they always end up with tiewraps after re-lamping

thorn are ok, but like the other say they let them down with shit clips that break and the use of shit injected foam gaskets in the 1980's where any sox lantern or son with a foam gasket soaked up water like a sponge and capilery actioned water into the lantern bowl, build quality on fiberglass thorns compared to philips are crap
