Philips 250w eW Reach Powercore LED floodlight close-up
Philips eW Reach Powercore LED floodlight.
On a recent daytrip to Conwy in North Wales, I noticed the castle there was lit with loads of these Philips LED floods.
They are quite impressive in size and I bet they are bloody bright!
Edit: These are 2700k at just under 14,500lm, not that impressive for 250w!?

Interestingly, each flood has two external boxes connected in line with it, a "Data Enabler" and a "Data Enabler Aux".
Edit: It seems these are intelligent controllers for switching and tuning the output of the floods and also controlling the colour on specific RGB floods. There are Ethernet and DMX versions.
They can just be seen behind the unit.

I’ve seen these also, there’s loads of them!, I’d be interested to know what they cost to buy though?

These look like the same floods that are used to light up the oitside of durham cathedral

They don't look like your typical chinese shit to me. 2700k says enough there. Razz

Designed and developed in the U.S.A and made in Mexico according to the sticker. They also do 3000, 4000k and also full RGB ones.

about half of a 250w son-t plus does that answer the question, leds are SH**

LED LIGHTS WILL NEVER BE COLLECTABLE JUST DISPOSABLE SO WHY DO PEOPLE TAKE PICTURES OF THEM I HATE LED, THE ROADS HERE ON LED ARE UNDERLIT FOR EXAMPLE 19W VMAX REPLACED 150W SON THATS 2000 VS 17000 LUMENS HOW CAN THIS BE ACCEPTABLE OR COMFIRM TO STANDARDS FOR ROAD SAFETY YOU CAN HARDLY SEE THE ROAD SURFACE AT NIGHT RANT OVER

EU regs John there is now a minimum colour rendering sadly so over night making SON / SOX usless! 🤬🤬🤬

These are really solid and well designed floods tbh. I don't mind them at all.

I've heard the argument that you can't see who's coming round the corner with LED's because most people are used to seeing headlamp light on poky little corners. I disagree with this because LED's are so dim that you can see the headlamp lights even clearer. Razz

I wonder why the EU went with a minimum cri requirement rather than a minimum efficiency requirement, hmm.... Oh yes because SON is rated 'A' and SOX is 'A++' usually Laughing

LEDs are way more directional. This means "efficient" but it also means, that their light will miss things. Since my town's lighting was replaced with LED there have been countless occurences of pedestrians being nearly hit in an (Max from LG favorite word) "Objectively" well lit road or turnabout. They just appear into the light in the last second out of nowhere

I’m sure the Philips APIA Plus Xtra Lamps are A+

When I went down south to visit family there's a little footpath by the house. Bloke slipped and broke his hip. Cant see anything at night since the LED change.

Hats off to Philips for not over running these, they could have doubled their current to make a super bright flood, but we all know how long over run diodes last!, but 14,000 lumens for that wattage is only super deluxe MBF territory?
I also noticed the label says 250watt Max???, so this may not even be running at that?, be interesting to know what driver they put in these?
