Modern German Reflector lanterns
Loads of these in use around the government sector in Berlin.
There must be a spotlamp in the top of the column shining onto the large reflector unit above.

The building in the background is the German Chancellery.

I quite like uplight lanterns tbh (I would kill for a Thorn Johanna!) but these aren't the best looking I'll admit!

They look like giant dental mirrors stuck in the ground!, and to get any useful light, I bet they have to have a pretty powerful halide lamp projecting onto them? An example of lighting companies changing the earth for over use of a bit of metal, as I bet their stupid money to buy?
