Spotted quite a few of these full cutoff Wardle SOX lanterns on Gateacre Brow in the Liverpool Suburb of Gateacre.
It's mad to see them still in service and lit! 
I bet these are bloody old, easy early 1950's!
Looks like a 90w lamp so probably would have an SO/H in it originally!

Indeed! I think the gearbox can be seen on the other pic mounted to the column. They are probably still on time clocks too lol. There is a picture of one of these on Simon Cornwel's website at an exhibition in 1953!
