Phosco P514 "Heritage style" SON lanterns.
On a recent walk around Bootle in north Liverpool, I spotted quite a few of these lighting the area outside of the Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council buildings.
The buildings are quite old and date from the 1880's.
The columns are original and used to have gas lanterns but today feature modern (well probably 1990's) SON lanterns.
Anyway it's nice to still see discharge lighting in use and these even have glass refractor rings to reduce glare and improve the spread.
There even has been made some attempt to decorate the feeder pillar lol.

Yep the Columns are original, they were Gas, then later electrified with REVO Fluorescent ornamental Octagonal Post Top Lanterns, yes the Lanterns are Phosco P514's with 70w SON lamps, when they were HID, sadly still made today but are LED.

yes in the 1970 Oriel Road was lit with Eleco HW852 90w SOX Lanterns on CU Highway X Concrete Columns, and you can see the REVO Ornamental Post Top lantern beside the bus.

That's great that, love the old bus! Strangely I prefer the look of the new installation over the old concrete and SOX!
I've been exploring some of the old history around Liverpool lately, that's why I was there, to see the old Balliol road railway station. You can still see some of the remnants of the old platform under the bridge.

Yes it brings back childhood memories as I grew up in Queens Road, which is just up the next road up road from Oriel Road/Kings Road/Balliol Road, yep the SOX lighting was replace with the CDO-T in 2005

Some great photos, just round the corner from Hugh Baird college where I was a student in the early 90s. Showing the old MPTE bus and a car as well.
