Philips Metronomis "Custom Liverpool" LED Lanterns.
|
The Philips Metronomis LED lanterns which light up the area of the Pier Head in front of the "Three graces*" in Liverpool have been customised with a transparent sheet of plastic which bears an image of the famous Liver Bird, a Cormorant which is the symbol of the city.
When lit up at night the effect is quite nice!
Pictured in the background are two more Liver birds atop of the Royal Liver building. Legend has it that the bird at the front is female and is looking out to sea for the safe return of the seamen while the bird at the back looking into the city is watching over their families.
What is more commonly told is that the male bird looking inland is waiting for the pubs to open :)
* The Three Graces are the famous trio of listed buildings on the Liverpool waterfront which includes the Royal Liver Building, the Cunard buildings and the Mersey Docks and Harbour company building.
