Dichroic Tungsten-Halogen galore!
The main dining room of the ocean liner RMS Queen Mary 2 is lit almost exclusively by low-voltage MR16 and MR11 halogen lamps.

For how much longer is in doubt though as the ship is due a major refit this year...

They always seem to put so much effort into lighting on ships and are very creative.

The Trafford Centres main food court is similar to this, but its designed as the deck of a ship, the massive ceiling, (must be 30 metres in height), is painted like the sky, then its lit with a range of colour from large lighting units mounted on the wall.

I think it looks better with a few out, makes it look like there is actually something on the other side instead of just a bulkhead.

I'll be able to report next December as I've booked the other way across the pond. Going to fly to New York and get this ship back. Will be interesting to see the changes they make during the refit.

Just got back from a Transatlantic voyage on this great ship and I'm happy to report the halogens are still there after the ships major refit! There are LED retrofits in the lift and some of the landings but apart from that halogen & fluorescent rules! The outside floods use E27 halogens!
