A bit warm!

1 x 5kW GE CP29 tungsten halogen lamp at at full power.
Very efficient heater that wastes some energy as light!

Interestingly although this lamp is marked as 240v, it actually reaches its rated power at 230v.

This thing pulls enormous current when cold as the cold filament resistance is only 0.69 ohms! I brought it up slowly on the variac and it was pulling well over 15 amps initially with just a few volts going through it!
Variac done well considering it's only rated for 15 amps. It made a few noises when passing through the mid point of the voltage range but when at near full it was almost silent with no complaints at all.
