Osram 18w SOX cleanup.
The area around the electrodes was very black and you almost couldn’t see them when the lamp was new.
Has cleared up quite nicely after a few months use.

Same happened to my 11w PL. Looked not far from EOL, now looks almost new after a few months of nightly use.

IIRC all of mine were from the same batch; N418.

Mine are N358 batch 05/13 and they seem fine too. I didn't think it had been in as long as November!

some lamps are so severely black that they do not clear up, the lesser ones do after a few hours
