Just out of interest, is the side rod’s of a Gamma 6 earthed?, I’m wondering if the lamp supports may have something to do with the early blackening of the later ones?

They don't have their own physical earthing points but the bottom casting does and there is a very good connection between the two. I reckon they are too far away to have any effect anyway tbh.

I was thinking more of the connection to earth via the span support wire that would touch the lamps conductive IR coating on the later ones?

Id of never of guessed this has done over a year! Normally these 18w SOX only last about 12 month before going black?
