I have got a 100w lucalox that does this, it is like little lightening strikes all the way along the tube.

I've an Osram NAV-TS 70W Super 4Y that does this, but without lightning, only illuminated strip.

It certainly is fun to watch!

I remember watching a metal halide trying to restrike in a petrol station when I was much younger. I referred to them as plasma ball lights after that since the effect it was producing during the restrike phase looked so similar to a plasma ball Just another awesome memory that LED would never ever replicate

In my tracklight, the Osram NAV-TS 70W Super 4Y Slovakia initially have a dim lighted strip at the starting antenna, which getting stronger and stronger, until it restrikes.
