DIY 1000w Compact Source Iodide Gearbox: Internals.
Showing the inside of the Hylec DEDS0400 steel IP66 enclosure which houses the gear required to run 1 x 1000w CSI PAR64 lamp.

It consists of 3 x 400w Australian-made Tridonic chokes wired in parallel and 4 x 50uf 250v PFC capacitors also wired in parallel.
There is a non-latching toggle switch which triggers the high-voltage pulse transformer which is located inside the actual luminaire.
I was tempted to add a mechanical timer which applies power to the ignitor for 3 seconds when power is first applied but I went with manual ignition in the end.
All wired with nice tri-rated cable with ferrules on any conductor which goes into a screw terminal and I have soldered as well as crimped any spade & ring terminals... because I can.

The whole thing is quite heavy and turned out to be quite expensive... but worth it.
I wonder when the last time a 1kW CSI gearbox was commissioned? :)

Cheers, It certainly was enjoyable to make but it did end up costing quite a bit!
