Philips 18w Trueforce CorePro LED HPL: Full power 2
It's quite bright!
Even after being ran sealed inside a Thorn Piazza bulkhead for a few hours the lamp become quite hot but I could still hold my hand on it quite comfortably.

Certainly looks very realistic but you can tell it is not an MBF lamp, the light has a much better CRI.
It also doesn't have that slight pinkish tint of a brand new MBF lamp nor does it have that greenish tint of a well used one either.
Just glancing though, you'd not even notice that this wasn't HID. I quite like these indeed!
One thing to note however, this is marketed as an 80w MBF replacement but it uses the larger outer envelope of a 125w MBF so it might not fit in all lanterns or fittings. I was going to try this in a classic Thorn SONPAK but it was slightly too large.

I would love to put one of these into use or relight a path with them! Interesting only 18w, does it seem as bright as MBFU / a CDO?

I'll have to dig out an 80w choke and do a comparison.

Look forward to seeing!

will this work on 70w son gear also?
lampy   [22 Nov, 2021 at 11:52 PM]
or is it 240 direct to the lampholder?
FrontSideBus   [23 Nov, 2021 at 01:30 AM]
This was on 240 direct to the lamp holder which is the recommended installation method but the instruction leaflet states that an MBF or SON choke can be left in circuit as long as any ignitors and capacitors are removed.

The lamp won't care about capacitors either, Removing them is just so they dont take the power factor low to the capacitive side

Looks good, but needs to be bluer Smile so it actually looks like mercury
