Sylvania F40W 33 vs 25

Quick test comparing Sylvania 40w T12 lamps in colour 33 and 25.
The colour 25 lamp is a 740 lamp while the colour 33 is 640.
You can see the slightly greenish tint of the 33 lamp while the increased red of the 25 gives a much nicer colour although at slightly reduced efficiency.

I love the colour 25 is about one of most common colour in the US after the 640 Cool White bans in 1995. sadly this colour got banned in the US in 2012 for 740 series. then T8 in 2014.

33/640 is a horrible colour tbh, not enough red so it makes you look ill. 25/740 is closer to 840 tri-phos but didn't seem very common at all. Seemed to jump from the old standard halo's right to the 8** tri.

25 is a lovely colour, the amount of red content does seem to vary somewhat between manufacturers. One of my favourite colours is Plus White which is circa 736 in modern money & is similar to 25 but warmer. I don't know why that wasn't made the default "white" instead of regular 535 white which is pretty awful

3500k is probably my least favourite of all the fluorescent colours tbh... especially the old Halos which had worse CRI than SON-DL lamps!

I use 535 white tubes in my garage, mainly because I have so many of them and it seems a shame to put anything nice in here lol. I would never put it in the house or anywhere nice.

Actually Iâ€™ve just thought... I think I hate colour 29 even more than 35!!!
