This building was still wired in its original 1930's vulcanised rubber singles in black enamel conduits, there were some modern additions, but on the whole, most of it was original, see that photo of the switch room i posted the other week. The stage lights are Strand electric 1000 watt floods, witha red gel filter infront of the Frenzel lense

We are lucky enough to still have an old 1930s cinema near me which has some lovely old lighting. It was almost bulldozed to be replaced with offices in 1990s when Odeon sold it off but it was so popular that there was campaign to save it and it is now a community cinema and still does very well!

Odeon had a policy of selling off nearly all of its smaller cinemas, and consentrated on the multplexes, this was a single screen seating 1300 people originally, it was trippled in the 70's by installing 2 mini screens under the balcony, Odeon did this up and down the land to old 1930's single screen cinemas, then shut them a few years later

The local cinema here is the same with the two extra mini screens, they are built into the main hall and it spoils it quite a bit as there are two box like structures on each side. I think one of the things that has helped the old cinema survive is that the nearest multiplex is over 3 miles away and there is no where else to build one any nearer. The only land that does not have buildings is a conservation area.

This place is worth visiting just to look at the lighting never mind what's on the stage ha

Those kinds of people don't want to pay fuck all for anything and what they do pay for the like to keep "in house" I'd not work for those people TBH.
