L.E.T. 8ft 100w 835

Here you see a Light Emission Technologies 100w 835 8ft lamp. I've always wanted some LET lamps, but I'm not really sure why lol. I was expecting these to have the caps similar to the old Philips ones with the large round red insert, but these are the typical Chinese 'Armour Lamp' style... Are these Armour Lamps then?

Im not sure if these arearmourlamps. These appear different to armourlamps. I have one of these too, it was missing its cap though 🙄

They don’t look like anything like the ones I have. Mine are made in U.S.A. Pics in my gallery...

Danny, if you have one missing its cap, bring it to the next meet to be recapped, or ask Jon if he can do it as he's got some cap adhesive too....

These are shielded. I think they're fairly recent lamps as they have 'special application lamps' plastered all over the box, which probably explains why they're Chinese lamps rather than the previously USA made ones

...I've tested the rest of these today, a few things worthy of note: They start up surprisingly bright for a modern lamp, I suspect they have a healthy mercury dose, probably higher than what is/was allowed (not that I'm complaining)! Several of the lamps have misaligned end caps meaning they're difficult to install in pull to release lamp holders, and one lamp was contaminated! I managed to revive it with a HV transformer from an insect killer though and it seems to be OK now.

has anyone ever done a life test on one of these Gold etch'ed Chinise LET tubes? its interesting to hear they are shielded, I dont think the Armour lamps are? between that and the different colouring of etch I have to wonder if there are 2 factories that are/where producing these 8ft's?

Nah not on the 8 foots but i am currently life testing a pair of 4ft on SRS and those are shielded

Are these from the same factory as the bright source tubes? I've got some very similar looking bright source 5ft 65W's in 35-535.

I remember just before i left school the site manager got a box of these LET tubes BUT in 6ft 75w and they didnt start in the SRS PP's you had to flick the switch to get them going. When they did work some would only last a few weeks then just randomly gas for no reason Rolling Eyes
