Benjamin #7191 80w 5ft Fluorescent Ballast [1962]
This is a switch start (preheat) ballast and is fitted in a Benjamin Taskmaster fluorescent fixture. It is multi-tapped for 200-250v operation

Working fine, runs cool and quiet. The fixture has an inspection stamp 9/1962 making this ballast around 55 years old, and the oldest in my collection so far

This is an impressive beast. Very heavy, runs cool, quiet and power draw measured at around ~95 watts running an 80w tube so it's not even massively inefficient! Very impressive stuff

Got to be an early 60s unit if not older

Stamp on the spine reads 9/1962. I've also found reference to "Benjamin Taskmaster" lighting in a brochure from 1962
