PlatinO 7w PL-S Lamp

Here you see a cheap and seemingly nasty PL-S lamp I got from a car boot sale today for 50p, which seems like too much. It doesn't even say what colour temperature it is, but after lighting it, it seems to be 835. The starter is dead so needs replacing. What type do these use, standard S2 type?

I think a BSN1000L78 and an SN59 will do the trick...

I usually keep dead PL-S lamps to strip for replacing starters in lamps like this. Youll need an S2 bottle preferbly a bottle from a BG that looks like a fairy bulb

Be careful tho cos it does not take much to pull the lead in wires out and gas these

Osram st151. Some of them have fairly thin lamps. There is difference between Germany and Italy made ones

Lol, Platino don’t add the colour number because they have their own unique colours Cool so 35 will be about 2000K on this maybe?

Rich was it you that once had platino lamps of some sort on test

This will go on test at some point, I'm interested to see how long it'll last. Even the manufacturer isn't optimistic though, claiming only 5,000h on the packaging!

A month at most if their other lamps are anything to go by

Yeah, bought a box of 16 for my unit lights, only got two left out of it!, their average life,@144 hours a month was six months, with three doing nine months, NONE of them did a year!
