Benjamin(?) Bayonet Cap Fitting Here you see a recent purchase, a Benjamin* 5ft 80w bayonet cap fitting. Sadly upon closer inspection it appears the cover you see was actually a trough at one point that has been cut off. It's not a great job either, it needs a 90 degree return bending in the edges as it's now just a flat piece of steel so there's no strength in the cover & it sags under its own weight! I can sort this though during refurbishment. *I'm not 100% sure these are Benjamin, but I've been informed they likely are and also these fittings share many similarities with some later model Benjamin fittings I own, including GEC components, colour scheme and the deep groove along the side of the spine.

It is indeed. Most BC fittings you see have massive great troughs attached, so I thought these would be quite neat. It was only when I got them home and looked closer I noticed the trough had simply been cut off!

But, even though they'll never be original, I think I can make them look much better and add strength back into the cover by bending a 90 degree return along the edge and making the cut a bit tidier. Once they're painted up after that they should look good.

P.S. if anyone is interested in one or two of these fittings at the meet, please let me know.
