Philips MI57 GO Installed Here you see a Philips MI57 GO that I recently fitted on the corner of my house ready to do many, many years of dusk to dawn duty! It came to me fitted with its original & hammered 70w SON gear and as much as I love SON, the lumens and running costs would have been excessive so after some debating I stripped out the gear and fitted a 40w Megaman Clusterlite seeing as I already have several of these lamps. I have to say the lux level, the 840 colour temperature and the 'spread' of light is perfect! I also replaced the (probably) original 70 lux Zodion cell with a 35 lux item. I've still got to buy/make a better bracket to secure it to the wall seeing as the bricks my house is built from appear to be made from cheese. Also the wiring is temporary, it will be re-fed from a new supply soon.

I might PL-L it one day. For now the Megaman stays, I like the output and am interested to see how long it lasts. They're rated at 15,000 hours which I reckon it'll surpass, they seem like well made lamps

It’s a big lantern so it shouldn’t get too hot anyway lol.

I'm not even slightly worried about temperature, even if it was a smaller lantern. We used to use these in fittings at work located on walkways above hot steel routes and they still seemed to last well. The biggest issue we had with these was the weight. These are quite a bit heavier than any HID lamp and as such these often wobble about in the fitting & in areas of high vibration they'd sometimes wobble about so much that the fragile tubes would hit the body of the fitting and smash

These are proper quality wallpaks, you could always see where the SON lamps put brown spots on the bowls though, different with a cluster lamp in though Cool
