Benjamin Taskmaster 5ft Fluorescent Fixture [1962]
Do you remember me asking for help identifying this fixture? Well here it is, now rescued...

It's a battered Benjamin Taskmaster 5ft 80w switch start fitting. Has a large dint in both the spine and the trough reflector. Works totally fine though :-)

Yes Danny, took my camera literally the next day I was there, but decided just to take it down instead lol!

Sounds like the best descision i hope you can get that reflector straightened out nicely!

Yeah I haven't attempted anything yet, I don't want to just start trying to manually force it back into shape and make it worse! Confused

even with its battle scars, a damn fine save

I agree with Jools never doubted for one second that this wouldn't work!

Many thanks.... It works really well too, choke runs cool and quiet and draws around 95 watts (80w tube) once warmed up so not even that inefficient. Very impressive given its ~55 year age

doesnt look too bad tbh, just pull the reflector out a bit... job done. for a 55 year old fitting, its certainly aged well.. (unlike a 49 year old me lol)

Hopefully you can straighten it out alright! Very Happy Choke losses aren't that much more than modern ones, impressive!

This spine and trough went in the scrap bin yesterday. The bent-ness was worse that I originally thought, the whole spine had been pushed sideways hard and had partially 'toppled' over, trying to straighten it out just made it worse. The trough was the same, bent & creased, no way to straighten it cleanly.

I have acquired a couple more Benjamin Taskmaster's since this one & one has damaged lamp holders, so the spares from this will be fitted onto that one Cool
