1950s - 1960s Fluorescent lanterns & columns Milton Keynes Discovered these photos recently of Milton Keynes back in the day, early 1970s. 17 of these (including what you can see) columns still survive to this day, with only what seemed 7 have been replaced bringing a total of around originally 24 in Simpson Village. These columns were later replaced with GEC Z9538s, although it's possible the fluorescents were replaced to Merc Eleco HW918s before the GECs, since a 1970s development of housing saw hockey cols with HW918s and Merc Globes. Does anyone know what these lanterns are?

great photos, good quality too, could almost imagine standing there today and it looking simelar, no plastic windows in sight too ! not sure on the lanterns but they do have an ELECO look about them as have seen and ELECO 2 foot florry in the past and it was like these

It's not changed as much even today! Hmm Eleco is a good one
