What brand is that sox? Looks well made!!!
Yeh doesn't it just it looks lush!!! I've got some of those myself I never get sick of seeing them
You must be able to tell from the lower tube support?, 1980s Philips
That Philips 135w is amazing it’s amazing the lengths Philips went to to make these. Ive got one exactly the same however it’s a Sylvania Branded one and seems to have more getter than this one
Yeah, this is my only one I have, it was bought bran fire new from T N Robinsons around 1993, I`m glad now it is one of Philips`s best ones!
Has it had much use?
Got about 300 hours on it tops!
Lush! Can’t be many of these about now!
Even in their heyday, it was such a shame that Hamilton went from this, to whats being pulled out today
Oh yes their modern 135 are an embarrassment
Anyone in interest to try to make things differently after 2020 ?
I don`t use SOX at all now, nor ever will again, so it dosen`t make much difference to me
If there was a luminaire suitable for some application you might need (e.g. wall pack), would you ?
If I was looking after quite a few fittings, I suppose it would be a worthy investment yes, but in my own town I have seen 100% SOX lanterns totally wiped out within just a few weeks so even the fixtures themselves are becoming history.

I am not about municipal use - but about private/commercial/factory/security use
No, the municipal use was just an example of how fast people are starting to discontinue the use of HID lamps.
Different animals. Municipalities are driven by bureaucracy - they have the same initial assumptions as the private user, but are unable to reconsider anything. They want to appear "modern" in the face of the residents and will invest in all sort of crap ("smart" things, see discussion in LG) to think that they please them. They have government as well as LED salespersons knocking on their doors alike. HID (and if adapted, SOX) will remain viable for small council and private use
