Dazor 2134-2405 Fluorescent angle-poise lamp
|
Unexpected find at the 30th July Dunstable Downs Radio Rally. I've had my eye out for a fixture of this type for years, but have never found one at a price I was willing to pay, until today. Looks to be in really good shape aside from having had the cable cut really short. I'd probably be replacing that anyway given it's metal cased and currently doesn't have a ground connection. Didn't realise it was actually a Dazor until after I got home and looked at it more closely.
Shame that the external ballast unit didn't come with it, as I'd have been curious to see what was in there given this is US made (assuming they didn't just fit that locally).
No interesting old US tubes present, but at least they're decent GE Polylux XL tubes rather so will likely last forever. Though for it's intended use a pair of Nortlight or Kolorites would be ideal.
Given the main use of this will be for close up work it will likely end up running HF gear I'm afraid simply because for that application flicker is really objectionable for me and just makes eye strain worse. As there's currently no gear with it, at least I'll not be ruining anything as far as originality is concerned though.
