yes, a top quality lamp, i'm a fan of these, even more so the eliptic egg shape version of the same lamp, even softer white light from those, done a few conversions in old lanterns with these lamps. run direct of philips 70 watt son gear

One of my.most favouritest lamps these love them. They were first offered as CDM-TT but later rebranded as CDO. Is it true that CDM is 830 and CDO is 828?
thorncollector   [07 May, 2019 at 10:36 PM]
yes thats true the cdm is 830 cdo 828

i was lucky to get a few years ago a 70w cdo-et non plus lamps these were 0A date code,
thorncollector   [07 May, 2019 at 10:39 PM]
are the plus versions better? i know they are brighter but do they last longer, i kind of makes 70w son obsolete as they give out the same if not more light abeit a better colour
lampy   [07 May, 2019 at 11:51 PM]
i was told they didnt last as long as a 70 watt sont T plus, but in practice they last the same amount of time really. never understood why these lamps didnt just replace son wholsale, maybe the cost as i think they are a lot more expensive per lamp than standard son t lamps
FrontSideBus   [08 May, 2019 at 01:40 AM]
Yeah SON is cheaper by far compared with these.

These being the most up to date halide lamps, with over 100 LPW, I wonder how the sales of these are doing, with the mass change over from HID we’re seeing?
FrontSideBus   [08 May, 2019 at 08:30 AM]
Probably soon to be made obsolete (if they haven’t already) to force the customer to buy their LED product and to save the company money from having a line producing a product with decreasing sales...
*Edit* The 50w version is no longer listed on Philips’ site so I reckon these won’t be far behind!
AngryHorse   [08 May, 2019 at 08:33 AM]
James has one on his site from 2017 though, sound like their still investing in CMH technology?
FrontSideBus   [08 May, 2019 at 08:42 AM]
Indeed but he does also say that model was discontinued at the end of that year though. Sad
AngryHorse   [08 May, 2019 at 10:58 AM]
Ah right, I just noted the date

Nice quality lamp! I should really get a couple of these while before they vanish for ever.
Kev   [08 May, 2019 at 11:58 PM]
Unreal that these are now obsolete! I’ve tested these in practice and they seem to last about 4 years half that of a decent SON
Slyspark   [09 May, 2019 at 12:04 AM]
LED is just killing off everything that's decent sadly Sad
