Thorn 1000w CSI PAR64 Run-Up.
Sorry for the soft image, I was shooting through the quite thick and curved front of the PAR lamp.

Just a quick series of images which show the (very fast!) run-up of a Thorn 1000w Compact Source Iodide lamp inside a PAR64 outer envelope.
These images are all taken within about 45 seconds and you can see just how quickly the halide does completely evaporates!

That must be an incredibly bright lamp - excellent photo considering it is through the glass of a PAR64! I would really like to get one of these, think I'll ask Santa early if he can get one for me. Laughing

The beam is mega... When I was testing the gearbox that I had made up I gave it a decent run but I started to smell burning! It was the door of a cupboard that I had it pointing at which was at least 2m away! It was smoking hot!!!

Awesome set of photos! Id love to get one of these some day! I do actively keep an eye on ebay for them but I have not had much luck sadly, although as you have seen I did find an orignial 400W Thorn example which im quite pleased about, but id love to get the big daddy 1Kw reflector beast Smile (well they also made a 2500W bare arc tube one as well)

The lamp contains tin-thallium-sodium-lithium. The arctube seems to be unsaturated, as how it looks when hot.
