It won`t be long before China is copying these! Confused
versalift09   [20 Dec, 2015 at 12:53 AM]
What gear is this designed for then boys?
AngryHorse   [20 Dec, 2015 at 10:43 AM]
Both MBF and SON, but the running specs are nearer SON Very Happy

Yes I remember the production of these well, made quite a few of them myself for various tests! Their reliability is indeed awesome, no expense spared. Initial lumens are unusually high but the weakness of the Kolorarc range was thet they are let down by a rather rapid lumen depreciation. The Arcstream MBI-T was designed to replace them. The 250w Kolorarcs are optimised for use on SON gear, the 400w on either mercury gear or a special Thorn 375w metal halide ballast. Note that this particular lamp should only be burned horizontally.

If they were designed for SON gear, why did they leave the aux electrode and resister in?
James   [23 Dec, 2015 at 11:26 PM]
Because a SON ignitor is not powerful enough to always strike an argon-filled MBI lamp without hulpelektrode.

Ah right, cheers.
