GE 250w Constantcolor CMH-TT
Close-up photo of the ceramic discharge tube from a 250w GE CMH lamp. It's interesting to note that most of the halide dose is in the end caps where the lead-in wires are.

Another amazing photo I do enjoy these not often you get to see the arc as close up as this. Fascinating

Installed some of these recently really bright!

They are very bright! I'd have to say Osram's Powerballs are brighter and run up quicker though. I may have to bite the bullet and pay £37 Shocked for a 400w one to play with. Knowing my luck one will pop up on eBay for £4 after I do Smile

Its an art in itself getting a shot like this! Cool , yeah its surprising how the halide dose dives to the cool spots, the convection currents in the arc must draw the colour from out of the stems?

If I'd known I would of put one of mine in the box!

What with the lampholders? Nah don't worry about that Smile How much was the postage btw? I'll have to paypal it over. To get shots like these I use a 60mm macro lens together with 3 ND8 filters. I could get away with using only one and using a high shutter speed but I like being able to look through the viewfinder and see basically what you see in the photo! Amazing to watch the arc run up with all of the colours ect!
