They are very bright! I'd have to say Osram's Powerballs are brighter and run up quicker though. I may have to bite the bullet and pay £37 for a 400w one to play with. Knowing my luck one will pop up on eBay for £4 after I do

Its an art in itself getting a shot like this! , yeah its surprising how the halide dose dives to the cool spots, the convection currents in the arc must draw the colour from out of the stems?

What with the lampholders? Nah don't worry about that How much was the postage btw? I'll have to paypal it over. To get shots like these I use a 60mm macro lens together with 3 ND8 filters. I could get away with using only one and using a high shutter speed but I like being able to look through the viewfinder and see basically what you see in the photo! Amazing to watch the arc run up with all of the colours ect!
