I think the colour of the lamp depends of the wavelength and bandwitdh the phosphor emits. My Eurolux 8W T5 lamps have bluish colour, similar to the low pressure mercury discharge itself. FSL also have thin phosphor coating, so you can see the cathode filaments at the ends easily.

@dor123: I love this strong bluish colour of the FSL tubes and the fact you can see the electrodes inside. Speaking of that I got a normal 3000K B&Q branded tube that happens to have a thin layer of phosphor and I can just see the electrodes and the stem structure inside. These B&Q branded tubes are Philips manufactured

I want to get some more various bug zapper 15W tubes especially those that come in a teal green - it has a special name. Anyhow the teal green ones remind me of the 22W circline ones that come in that colour and the standard bluish colour
