Nice! These must be one of the best of the T8 battens imo

Have to agree with you on that this and the Ring Eurobatten are the top fave of open tube T8 fluorescent fixtures

Yes these are just great, nice metal supports for the lamp holders inside and sturdily build. They've also kept the chunkier size batten body whereas the 90's-present Thorn PP and the Eurobattens have gone for a slimmer design.

Yes the chunkier and more rectangular shape of the fixture design is what I admire. I am in fact using this as my bedroom main light because recently my ceiling light which is a pendant ceiling rose light, a plasticky ozone like smell comes out after 20 mins of use - and I am not using a bulb that is over 100W

They slimmed the lamp holders down a bit in the 00's versions which don;t look quite as good and then later on switched to using normal tombstone holders which were ok but didn't always accept T12's . These Crompack 4's and older Crompack 5's were the best I think.
Whats up with your ceiling rose? Could the plastic of the holder be breaking down with the heat?

I think the pendant ceiling rose light is encountering a small electrical fault as basically it is very very old (oldest one in my parents house) so I'd rather get it replaced for a 16W 2D. Anyhow the tombstone lampholders are ok but they are not my favourite design, funnily enough the old office room in my parents house is getting renovated and a RING branded fixture that is 36W and has the tombstone style lampholders but fortunately T12 tubes can be accepted as the label says 40W on it

Nah the Philips euro battens were better than these... Had a few twist end go brittle or solid on these. Yes they were a good workhorse but I preferred to fit Fitzgerald tbh those push ends were great only issues arrived when Eol lamps left in and melted the ends.

Oh yes I forgot about Philips! That said any T8 batten of this era pretty much wipes the floor with the trash we get now

I've never seen much of Philips's LFL batten range about myself (or didn't notice them as Philips if I did) but looking at their catalogues they made some nice fittings!

Fingers crossed I will come across one of Philips classic looking fluorescent fixtures
