Interesting to see one of these, I wonder if they are any good? Do you know how old this fitting is?
Flurofan96   [05 Jul, 2024 at 11:01 PM]
I guess the fitting is either 2000s era or late 90s - however it is in mint condition despite it was used (dust on the back end) and about the ballast, I have no clue about this make at all. Something tells me that it being made in India would be slightly better than Made in China - at least it is Non Chinese manufactured

Yeah it's interesting to see a HF ballast made in India. BAG are a swiss company I believe, I'm not sure if they still exist now though Confused

Thanks for the info on that company, oh so being Swiss it would be of decent quality, although it would depend on the quality standards of the plant in India but something tells me the standards would outperform Chinese manufactured electronic ballasts Smile

Quite unusual for Fitzgerald to use BAG HF ballasts tbh as the modern 2010-2020 HF LP's same as this one have all come with Osram HF ballasts?
Beta 5   [07 Jul, 2024 at 08:49 AM]
I've got one from 2012 with one of those silver cased Helvar ballasts, seems like they just fitted whatever they could get hold of as I sure Kev had some other brands too?

@Liam: Yes this is change from the usual Tridonic gear regarding my collection. I'll try to get an OSRAM HF electronic ballast sometime

Beta 5: Great job getting an LP158 made in 2012 with a Helvar ballast

Thanks flurofan, I'll post a photo of it soon Smile The Osram Quicktronic Professional are quite good I think. The modern slim Chinese made Tridonics are junk and pretty boring, plus they keep skipping the pre heat and instant starting the tubes when warm too, or sometimes just refuse to strike the tube and treat it like an EOL one Confused

No problem, Beta 5 Smile when it comes to electronic ballasts, I will be sticking to OSRAM, Philips and Helvar - most likely I will be installing this LP158 in my bedroom when the opportunity comes Smile unless if I come across another fixture. Tbh I'm debating whether a 28W 2D fixture or a 36W linear fluorescent fixture would be ideal for my bedroom
Flurofan96   [07 Jul, 2024 at 02:23 PM]
One thing is my B22 pendant fixture in my bedroom is on its last legs
Beta 5   [07 Jul, 2024 at 03:08 PM]
I'd probably go for a 28W 2D bulkhead in a bedroom, especially if replacing a pendant Smile The silver cased modern Helvars are to be avoided as they are quite poor but the white ones should be ok

Thanks for the advice, Beta 5 Smile I'll try to find a 28W 2D fitting that would be to my taste but I somehow got a strong temptation to put this LP158 up Very Happy
