LCD CCFL Backlight
Decided that the old XGA screen is useless so might as well strip it down and see what the CCFL is like before I bin it.
Here the screen is shown completely stripped with the reflector layer at the bottom, followed by several diffusion and polarising layers, some sort of Fresnel type layer and then the LCD panel itself at the very top.
The tiny CCFL is located in a very narrow reflector channel at the edge of the screen which shines into a thick-ish diffusion panel.
I've marked the channel with a black arrow and I've marked the actual CCFL in the insert picture with another arrow.
I really need to get a macro lens for this full-frame camera!
