E40 to E27 Adapters of Dubious Quality 3: Giving it some work to do.
|
Decided to give this a good run with a nice 150w Eye Color Arc lamp.
Certainly the worst case scenario that this is going to be dealing with.
It certainly gets hot but it's not that bad to be honest. I can hold on to the flared plastic section right behind the actual lamp and while it is unpleasant, I could keep my fingers there indefinitely if I wanted to. There is certainly no chance at all of it melting.
Time will tell if this harms it (with UV) in the long run but this will never ever get it.
For what I want to use it for it seems perfect.
I got a couple of these very cheaply so I can run E27 discharge lamps in my "test cell" which is basically a 400w metal halide low bay luminaire with the gear stripped out and a socket added so I can use external gearboxes.
It often lives on top of a cabinet where it acts as an uplighter as it has safety glass which makes it ideal for enclosed rated lamps.
