slyspark, do you want me to remove this? its indirectly related to lighting being a mewp that would have fitted 00000s of sox lamps
Slyspark   [17 Jul, 2020 at 07:41 PM]
Don't mind the odd thing, especially if it's lighting related. What we don't want is people using the site for tons of stuff that has no connection at all to lighting.

Its a tad bit of a pointless upload to be honest. I would of been more interested to see a picture if this ballast in situ in the MEWP in the scrapyard And pics of the MEWP to be honest, i dont mean this direct to you or anyone else At all but this site seems to be concentrating more on computers and cars than lighting, and personally i would like to see those two topics kept to a mimimum, there is a computer topic with over 70+ replies in Off topic which am a bit tired of marking as read as i cannot be arsed opening it to look. i dont think any other forum post has such an amount of replies.

Isn't that what the off topic section in the forum is for?
Slyspark   [18 Jul, 2020 at 01:17 PM]
It is, yes. It just seems a shame however when there's more discussion going on in the off-topic section than there is on the rest of the site. This is primarily a lighting site, which is why there's just the one off-topic section. Seems a little strange that it sometimes seems to be people's first point of contact for stuff completely unrelated to the site, as well as just how busy that section seems to be compared to elsewhere. I'm sure for a lot of the things that get discussed there, there are dedicated forums elsewhere on the net. Not proposing to remove it or anything, just seems odd. Just my two-pence worth anyway.....
FrontSideBus   [18 Jul, 2020 at 01:34 PM]
True, but then is the lighting community supposed to not discuss anything else and not be sociable? I agree off topic photos should be kept to a minimum but then again seeing a million photos of the same model of signlight can be tiring too.

Agreed, hence why the off-topic section isn't going anywhere. Just seemed a bit of a shame that lighting sometimes seems to take more than a bit of a back seat. Was more an observation than anything else - not trying to stop anyone from enjoying the site. Also I agree about images, hence the post asking people to ensure they are of high- quality and not repetitions of the same tings over and over again. Just trying to find a way to keep everyone happy. We've had comments from some members that question why the same things get posted over and over and that they're getting bored. Never going to be able to please everyone I guess.
