These are decent ‘mini sun’ lamps , I’ve got a Philips version of this, (I think it’s Philips)?, and the tube glows purple when you turn it off!

I've got a few of these in various wattages and voltages. Cracking lamps. They still use them on cruise ships in big floodlights lighting the side of the ship up at night. Probably for emergency reasons as if you need to launch lifeboats then you probably don't have a stable electrical system and you don't want discharge restriking.
