Claude 40w 65v British Rail mushroom lamps
More lamps for railway carriage illumination (like those Luxram examples I posted yesterday). These were found on CP Lighting for only about 80p each, a real bargain! Previously I had one of these, used presumably and missing its box. Note that these use the B22-3 base, presumably this is an anti-theft measure.

The old BR slam door stock that we used to have around here had these in the corridors, compartments, guards van and toilets. They only withdrew the last from service in 2005 when we finally got some shiny new trains to replace the ones from the 1960's. Main carriage lighting was by means of 2 rows of T12 40w tubes that ran the entire length.
