Thorn LUD R1065 Invincible
Thorns Mk1 Invincible batten is very distinguishable by its compact construction, and the 6 bowl clips matching that of the Mk2 Thorn Alpha 8. Later ones would see these bowl clips widened by a very considerable amount.
This was salvaged along with a few others by a fellow collector from a petrol station. Upon arrival it was absolutely plastered in years of grime. Apparently this was the only one worth having as the rest were badly damaged. Even so this one still has a small hole in the cover.

Cool I still have some of these in service at one of the fire stations I recently had to convert one to electronic start as the SRS Packed up

Rare for SRS to pack up, such a shame when it does though. At least the fittings still in service though.

SRS is more prone to fail than SS by a long shot

I think it was a good idea at the time, just poorly executed, and much more fragile. Lack of development put further strain on them, but hey, 40 years service can't be bad.

I'd love to get my hands on a 2' twin version of that - want to convert one to 2x 2' 40w. Purchased one on eBay a year ago, but it never arrived, apparently the courier 'broke / lost' it. Took so long to try and get to the bottom of that and for the courier to compensate the guy who sent it, it fell outside the period to get my money back and I never did, either from eBay or the seller. Seller effectively got paid twice for it Sad

Always have to click on pix of these when the pop up in randoms on here. Pleased to say however, I now have a couple of examples of these - both a single and a twin, so very pleased with that!

I have a few myself, MS Light MS-12's from the 80s. They seem to be actually shells of Thorn Invincible that were imported as empty shells, and fitted with MS Light's own gear trays
