Thorn 2DQP16P Quarto Pyramid lit.
A recent eBay find, and one of the rarest Thorn 2D fittings you'll find today. The Quarto range was designed as part of Thorn's 'home lighting' range. Consisting of 4 fittings, these were made for specific places around the house. The designs were very typical of the time, but they never saw popularity, so they are pretty hard to find today.
The fitting shown here is the Pyramid version, specifically made for bedrooms or living areas. Featuring a crystal plastic diffuser, it was one of two fittings in the range that could be either wall or ceiling mounted. the lamp is dwarfed by the cover, but maybe this allows for air movement around the lamp, as I imagine these are the type of fitting that can get pretty hot during use. The base unit, is by far the smallest I've ever seen, so heat buildup over time would be a problem, depending on how much use the fittings saw of course.
My plans for this is installation somewhere, but where I don't know. Like many of my fittings though, it'll probably just end up staying in the box (not like I could complain though, it keeps them brand new then)
