im curious how their electricial specs (like arc voltage drop) compare between the 2 as I know buffer gas pressures can have a big affect on that

Well this experiment proves that is incorrect the voltage across these is the same. 59v to be precise

interesting i wonder what determines a lamps arc voltage exactly, take a 2ft 40W tube, it has an arc voltage of just 45-48V compared to the 55-60V of a 20W T12
|

Thats because of the increased current its why they are considered to have 'negative' resistance, as the current increases the voltage drop reduces
|

Eclipsis And What about the off period at current zero crossings ? Is that same too ? I would like to see scope pics
