fitzgeralds were just a cheap rip off of the thorn pop pack, dont know how they got round thorns patent design?
Me too.
Both fitting were built to last though.
They brought the design from thorn! There became a stage in the early 90s where the Fitzgerald LP became better quality than thorn and today is way better lol
I would actually put myself on the line here and say the Fitzgerald lite pack is much better than the Pop pack from day 1
Wouldn't say much better the 70s PPs were top notch with the gear they came with
70s was ok but soon as they went to the plastic turn buckles that is when they went down hill.

I have a Rather late LP20 and I tried fitting some twin lamp holders from a PP and it would not fit... the lamp holders where too shallow by the looks of it
I'd guess Fitzgerald started producing these in 1982 when Thorn brought out the T8 PP. Previous Fitzys had the hexagon lampholders
I tried this the other day on a LP20 and it did fit but there is a noticeable gap between the lamp holder and spine of the fitting. I used exact same thorn t12 holders as well.

Originally, they were made by Thorn anyway, but then made in house on the old Thorn kit. Fitzy had the pop-pack production line off Thorn when the design changed. As such, Thorn lampholders fit these. The more modern version, with the rotary lampholders and coverplate twist buckles, incorporated a change to the design of the spine, the ends are now cut lower, so using a Thorn lampholder isn't an option on the newer ones as it leaves a gap.

Ah so that would explain why I have a gap. My lp20 has t12 holders but it’s a turnbuckle coverplate so that’s probably why I have a gap. I have a few 8ft twin fitzys with the coverplate screws and twist lock holders. I wonder if the twin thorn holders same as these fit as I prefer the design of them th the fitzy twin t12.
