How I was taking pics with white backgrounds
Yes that is a chinky chonk led panel. Probably the only use for them.

We have one, (and only one), of these in our lamp stores at work, no idea where it came from, or even if it works?, good idea for photos though Cool

Interesting pannel. WOuld be interesting to see the effect of having another one on top would make. Would be handy for those tiny aperture macro shots.

This a good technique to get rid of the shadows! But easy to over-expose and show the lamp as too much of a silhouette. I do something similar using a 600x1200mm LED panel we make for Tesco stores, but with a dimmable driver to be able to regulate the brightness and get the right exposure. Colour balance is sometimes a problem though. Normally these kind of panels are mainly having 4000K LEDs, but when I get a suitable moment I hope to make a few PCB's with 2000K and 6000K LEDs, mix them together with two 1-10V dimmable drivers, and then have colour and luminance control.

Yes, if you look closely you'll see I have that panel connected directly to that variable power supply in the corner, very useful. About the colour control, I tend to do that using just the white balance on the camera.
