The vacuum equipment Cobbled together out of bits of pneumatic pipes and connectors, its suprising it doesnt outgass or leak. Over time i plan to gradually swap the crappy plastic pipe for those metal ones in the trays and the toolbox.

would be interesting to see the discharge colour and characteristics but if its pure butane theres no oxygen for it to burn with sadly LOL

This is how physicist sir J J Thomson started!, taking vacuum tubes and filling them with all different gasses to see if he could get a discharge out of them! Very Happy

I have to say I'm impressed and quite envious Jon! I've built a few diy fittings but would never think to make discharge lamps. How do you seal the tube?

The electrodes have a little stem off the end that you nip off with a blowtorch

@FSB That wallpaper has been there since I was a baby. And changing it will be a true nightmare so ive decided to leave it.
