Revo Hyperion B - First time lit

Its with huge huge thanks to a fellow collector for enabling me to add a Revo Hyperion B to the collection, and its an absolutely stunning thing too. The bowl is immaculate, and the canopy survived undrilled, meaning it was still time switch controlled right up to its decommission last month.

Obtained as a SOX lantern, the 135w lamp really didn't look right, owing to these lanterns originally being for 140w SLI or 200w/300w SOI/H lamps, both of which are longer than 135w SOX. Understanding this, I decided to draft a template of the original lamp holder bracket, and with a hell of a lot of cutting, measuring, filing and drilling, I was able to add the two sprung plunger lamp holders, both of which are from an old fluorescent fitting I modified to help with starting issues. The original vinyl on the bowl was all but worn out, so even more measuring and what felt like an age lining it up, I was able to renew the vinyl with a perfectly matching piece.

Christmas day I decided to get it working to see if all that work has been worth it. This is my only SLI lamp, and to my memory this'll be the third time I've ever lit it. It looks perfectly comfortable in its new surroundings, and the vinyl does a brilliant job of reflecting light outwards and back to the refractor plates, whilst letting next to no light immediately downwards, this being a requirement BS1788, 1964. Overall, a very successful backwards conversion (its believed they were converted to SOX in service) and something I'm absolutely over the moon to have.

Despite dating back to at earliest 1964, the refractor plates are still perfectly accomplishing their job of controlling light, moving into the full beam as shown here proves this as the whole plate is lit. At this stage its made even more impressive as it works to further exaggerate the arc tubes 'clove leaf' patterning.
