Thorn Alpha 8

31'st August 2018 marks my 8'th year of collecting, so naturally its only right that i obtain some more items.
My first lanterns included a Thorn Alpha 3, and Alpha 9, and now 8 years on its only right that I obtained a very nice Alpha 8, courtesy of a good mate. It was originally located in Worcester, sadly LED replacements saw the demise of the whole remaining stretch of these, consisting of 6 lanterns.
It would appear it dates to 1989, and overall, its in an impeccable condition. I have never seen a lamp holder arrangement like this however. A small bracket has been bolted to where the lamp holder normally secures too, moving it up into the canopy. Its then angled downwards, bringing the lamp more into the bowl. Whether this has anything to do with widening the light spread I don't know.
Upon arrival, a tubular lamp was fitted. This I felt wasn't right, and was duly swapped out with a nice elliptical lamp. When lit, its a much softer, less glary output. Restoration will include a full respray and polish of the bowl.
