Holophane Module 600

Removed a few weeks back, and subsequently saved, this absolute monster of a bulkhead, a Holophane Module 600, for 400w SON lamps. It came from the former Walsall Market, and was once one of five that lit the area. The area has since been redeveloped, and by the time we eventually removed them, there was just two left. Of those two, this was the only intact one. It was originally mounted on a ten meter column, and was attached to a mounting plate that was just as heavy as the bulkhead itself, believe me it was no easy feat getting it off and into the bucket. The bracket was taken off, as I prefer these wall mounted.

Upon opening it, it revealed a very nice original USA made GE lamp, believed to be from 1984, the same age as the bulkhead itself. The gear comprises of a Parmar ballast, Nokia capacitors and a very unusual starter igniter. Overall, the whole light weighs an absolute ton, so moving it about is awkward.

Putting power to it, the lamp struck first time and ran up to full brightness within a few minutes. Its an insanely bright light, the main beam is blinding. Overall a very worthy save.
